The Problem

Workplaces face a growing challenge as their employees are increasingly called to care for aging or ill family members. This can be a spouse, a child, an adult sibling, or close friend. Loyal employees are also loyal to their families. Employers, however, can’t see the impact…

By the numbers:

70%

of Full time workers are impacted by caregiving

80%

of working caregivers say it affects their productivity

25%

of caregivers are millennials

How might we…

AS THIS EXPERIENCE BECOMES MORE COMMON, HOW MIGHT WE ATTRACT TALENT, REDUCE TURNOVER, KEEP AND REPLENISH A PRODUCTIVE AND CARING WORKFORCE?

Employee caregivers experience clinically significant depression, serious sleep loss and disturbance, weight gain, injuries, neglect self care, and have increased risk for stroke or heart attack. In fact, as of May 2019, burnout was designated as an “occupational phenomenon” by the World Health Organization.

HOW MIGHT WE HELP WORKPLACES DESIGN A CULTURE OF CARE THAT  ENABLES PEOPLE TO CARE, WORK, AND THRIVE?

Employees who have left jobs to caregive is not limited to employees in their 40’s and 50’s. Large numbers of people 18-25 have already quit to caregive . (HBR)

HOW MIGHT WE SUPPORT PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THIS EXPERIENCE?

30% of workers say their careers have been adversely affected by caregiving obligations.

How might we retain high-performing and knowledgeable employees who care about their work, their colleagues, and families?

Our Mission

We are non-profit 501(c)3 organization that serves as a catalyst for research, advocacy and organizational design at the intersection of caregiving and work.

We collaborate with employers to understand how caregiving currently impacts employee and team productivity, health, acquisition, retention, and well-being. Then we work with leadership and employees to co-design strategies and interventions to care, work and thrive.

We also partner with academics, non-profits, and for-profits as a network orchestrator to enable experiments between communities of need and multi-disciplinary resources for mutually beneficial outcomes.

Do you want to influence your organization’s ability to perform at a high level?

Do you want to co-create the future of work where employees can thrive?

Would you like to ensure your managers and colleagues feel empowered to help and support each other?

Our Approach

We help you orchestrate across your teams and partner with your employees to create scalable ways your organization can better work, care, and thrive…together.

Understand & Measure Baseline

First, we work to understand your organization’s problem space/s:

  • Are there bright spots?

  • What existing benefits and programs do you have?

  • How is caregiving currently impacting your organization?

  • What are the range of experiences people currently have?

  • Are there gaps in policies or resources?

  • We’ll also ask what we could measure.

Gather

We’ll help you bring the right people to the table from across your organization.

Co-Design

Together, we’ll co-create with your employees to design participatory interventions and tools, identify challenges, and create policies and programs tailored to your culture, serving as a foundation for a culture of care.

Prototype & Test

All new services and programs are prototyped before investments in technology, content, or resources are made for agile program design.

Execute

We’ll work closely with your teams to deliver and execute new programs and services, measure their impact, and learn what works in the context of your organization -- its unique culture and challenges.
